Death of Anastasius I
#OnThisDay: The Eastern Roman Emperor Anastasius I Dicorus died on July 9, 518 AD. He ruled from 491-518 AD. He reformed the economy and the government. He fought against Kavad I in the Anastasian War of 502-506 AD and kept the status quo. Also, like Zeno, he tried to moderate his religious policy despite being a Miaphysite. However, he suffered two major rebellions from General Vitalian. He defeated Vitalian in 515 AD and the Isaurians in Anatolia in 492-497 AD. Two days from now, I will post the first blog post on the Siege of Amida from 502-503 AD.
