Common Sense with Wayne
If anything, 2020 has taught us that there is truth to the old saying that “It could be worse.” Man, what a dumpster fire of a year it has been. Remember back to January.. when we had such high hopes for the year. When all you worried about was if you’d make it to the gym and lose that extra weight from all the holiday food. Who knew that letting yourself down would literally be the least of your troubles. From Covid to Riots to the crazy election and the drama surrounding it, this year has tried its best to tear us all apart. Maybe it’s time to get a little perspective.
Now, let me be clear.. there is little in this world that I claim to be an expert on. Finances… no. Politics… God no. Religion… come on… we have too many self proclaimed prophets already. The things I will talk about here may touch any of these topics and so many others, but they will not be from the perspective of being the expert. In fact, the majority will be to show that those who are screaming at the top of their lungs aren’t experts either.
Call it a Trumpism… Yeah… I had to mention him. He is a prime example of what is happening in the world. Think about it… there have been a dozen times any of us can think of where Trump stated that no one knew more about a topic than he did. The one that pops first into my mind is the famous, “No one knows more about windmills than I do…” That would have been a great line if he was talking about a wind powered mill that crushed oats into flour instead of the high tech wind turbines that generate power. Honestly, I have no desire to go into Trump talk and the hours of time it would take unravelling if he is or isn’t intelligent. It isn’t the point. The point is, he wanted to claim being an expert at something that he had no knowledge of at all.
Now in a broader perspective this is happening all over the world. People are stating their opinions as fact. Like they know something you don’t because they have some back alley info connection or mystical crystal ball that lets them know all and see all. The real truth is that they don’t know, they just want what they desire to be true and that is enough for them.
So that is the point of this blog. My rambling thoughts about the world from a blatantly honest and yet under qualified guy saying “Hey.. you are just as under qualified as I am..”
Hop on and enjoy the ride.
